Dear Incoming Ninth Graders:
On Tuesday, August 20th from 9:00 to 10:30am there will be an orientation for incoming freshmen in the middle-high school auditorium, all students are strongly encouraged to attend this event. The goal of orientation is to help students make a smooth transition to the academic and social demands of high school life. We will be discussing things such as high school academic planning and expectations, social and academic supports for students, athletics, extra-curricular activities, and attendance and behavioral policies and rules.
The final portion of the program will consist of a brief presentation by Ms. Beth Daly, our school social worker and peer mentor program advisor. Peer mentors is an advisory program that all freshmen students take part in. Several junior and senior students have been chosen to serve as peer mentors to freshmen during the school year. Mentors meet with freshmen periodically throughout the year to answer questions, offer advice, and help them adjust to the rigors of the high school experience. The peer mentors will be here on August 20th to meet their assigned freshmen advisees!
Although this program is for students only, I am happy to answer any questions that parents may have. Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like additional information.
Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer!
