2021/2022 Meals Program

There is great news regarding school meals for next school year 2021/2022. The USDA along with DESE has extended free school meals to all children and teens. This means that next year’s food program will look similar since returning in April 2021. We will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch next year!

“Yesterday, Tuesday, April 20th, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released several flexibilities to allow school meal programs to serve meals safely and efficiently during School Year 2021-2022. These meal service flexibilities, available through June 30, 2022, are in response to the continued economic impact of COVID-19 and the need to adhere to strict food safety protocols.

Specifically, for School Year 2021-2022:

All schools across the Commonwealth will be allowed to serve meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

Seamless Summer Option (SSO), which is typically only available during the summer months.

Area eligibility will continue to be suspended allowing all schools across the Commonwealth to continue serving free meals to all children and teens.”

Middle School MCAS Testing

Dear Parent or Guardian:

On the following dates the Georgetown Middle  School will participate in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System(MCAS). 

Tuesday, May 18 STE- Grade 8 only

Thursday, June 3rd ELA- Grades 7 & 8

Tuesday, June 8th – Grades 7 & 8

The test will be administered during the first four blocks of the days.  Testing will be on ipads and we have some important information for all students to be aware of:

For students who have an iPad that was purchased or leased from Georgetown Schools or bring their own iPads:

– Please make sure that your iPad and keyboard are fully charged at the start of each testing day. 

– The TestNav app must be downloaded (free) from the app store prior to testing days. Students with Self-Service on their personal iPads can find the app there as well.

– Make sure that your iPad is running iOS version 12 or above.  To check this, go to Settings>General>Software Update. If updates need to be made, they must be made prior to testing day. Time will not be given to update software the morning of MCAS.

– All iPads must have a keyboard attached. For students who do not have a keyboard, they can be checked out of the library/media center the morning of test days.

– iPad minis, other tablets, chromebooks, and laptop computers may not be used for MCAS testing. Students with these devices will need to check out an iPad from the library/media center the morning of test days.

For students who typically check iPads out of the media center:

– iPads and keyboards will be available for checkout the morning of test days.

– If possible, please plan on arriving a few minutes early so that iPads and keyboard can be distributed and testing can begin on time.

Please encourage your children to do their best work and make sure they are well rested and eat breakfast on testing days.
